Polo GTI 6R white smoke

So I have a dual charged polo GTI 6R DSG, it was running absolutely fine, the turbo was leaking minimal oil that wasn’t a concern from the two mechanics who done a VHC on my car.

Suddenly yesterday I started it and it started puffing out white smoke. No lights on the dash or anything and the turbo was still boosting and I have done the compression test, sniff test and it isn’t the supercharger or the head gasket.

It doesn’t smoke much when idling but as soon as you hit about 1.5k rpm it starts puffing out white smoke and then once you get past 3k rpm it stops smoking (this includes when driving).

I have changed the spark plugs and coil packs, the oil cap isn’t milky or anything. And my coolant is still at max so not using excessive coolant. But the car has started to drink through oil.


Last night the EML started flashing and now every-time I start the car it comes on and doesn’t go off. And the car has started misfiring in cylinder 3.

Any advice or ideas on what this could be?

Hi My Guy
That is one of the tell sign of Ringland piston failing/detonation over fuelling
Is your car taking oil.
I suggest you inspect pistons via camera through the plug opening or open the head now before any major problems.
also check or your test your injectors

I also been through the same on my 2013 Pgti white smoke on Start Up, pull off and De-acceleration left it for some time and 45k to 60k later :bang:
