I am new here and glad to be here.
Anyway I have a issue with my Citi golf 2003 Chico 1.4 carburettor. Last week I was driving and my car began jerking quite a bit. I took it to my mech and he told me that my base plate was faulty. I changed the base plate and everything was ok. Then yesterday the problem started again but this time the car switched off while I was driving. I jumped it and it went off again after about 10 minutes.
My troubleshooting this far:
I changed my spark plugs, my leads, and my distributor cap.
My car drove well all day till this evening but now the jerking has stopped and my car just switches off randomly but this time it doesn't start back up. I have to unplug the coil lead and put it back and then fiddle with the distributor cap (by moving it left and right). The car will then start up normally and drive for a short bit and then switch off again.
I am now at a loss as I am not sure what the problem might be. I also did a standard service to the car so I have a new oil filter, petrol filter sparks and oil replaced.
**Oh and what I noticed now is that when the car switches off in the drive, when I attempt to jump it it sometimes works but then the car will back fire and then drive normally.
If anyone can give me advice, please please please I'm open to all suggestions.
