VW MK1 Dictator Assistance Needed

Post by Corn1989 »

Good Day

I am driving a VW Golf 1 2E 2.0 8V with 288cam

I want some advice on the trigger angle and the actual timing. The Trigger angle on 60 up is to low and on 45 too high at that stage it pings under WOT only.

My biggest problem is i am not sure how the spark timing map values increase on tps 0% up to 6000rpm wot. Can you assist?

Did you had the car tuned or are you self tuning?
If 69 is too slow and 45 is too fast, you can adjust inbetween until car is more happy. In general 43-45 is about where VW is setup as std, but in your xase your timing map and ramp on timing map is unkniwn to us/me and nakes it difficult to give you any suggestions.

Upload a picture of your timing map, fuel map and main page settings and then I can look at it and try to give you some pointers.

Just out of curiousity, what mark did you use for tdc on motor and what mark on distributor? Where is rotor facing when you have motor on front crank pulley mark?
