JBL Car Audio
Hi All
Been toying with the idea of sound, or performance mods. Sound won, mainly cause I can take it out when I sell the car.
Anyway, I went to Sounds Limited and spoke to the guys. I initially wanted to just put an amp and sub in to compliment the speakers. But, they convinced me to go the whole hog. They suggested the CS class, but I did some reasearch and have decided to go the GTO route.
I intend to put in the following;
1* GTO 6 Channel Amp @ 2,799.00ea
2* GTO 6" Split Systems (Front and Rear) @ 850.00ea
1* GT4 12" 1000w Sub in JBL Box @ 950.00ea
What do you guys think, will the sound quality be any good?

Re: JBL Car Audio
My friend has that sub and those splits running off a 4-channel Calibra amp in his Camry and they are very very decent. He previously had a Rockford Fosgate P1 12" in and the JBL blows it out of the water. Plus the Rockford developed a bad rattle after 2 weeks and then eventually died.Sculler wrote:Hi All

You will be VERY happy with that setup trust me.
Just one word of advice... if you are going to spend money on some decent sound, don't buy it from those sharks at Sounds Limited. I had a problem with a sub I bought from them (the pigtails were too short so they kept breaking) and the best they were willing to do was give me a demo sub which looked like the dog had gotten hold of it.

Rather go to a place like Alberton Discount Radio where their prices are just as good, but their after sales service is much better.

I will probably do the install myself as I have done a few (on my buddies car) so I think it will be fun, but will definately get it tuned properly. Will show pics!
Just gotta go to the bank and get some dosh

Re: JBL Car Audio
Hey, sounds like you’re off to a solid start with your setup!
JBL’s GTO line is definitely a step up from entry-level gear — clean mids, decent highs, and they handle power well without distorting easily. The 6-channel amp gives you great flexibility for powering all components cleanly, and having splits front and rear will really open up the soundstage in the car.
As for the GT4 sub — while it’s not competition-grade, it delivers punchy and deep enough bass for most listeners, especially when matched with the rest of your system. The box tuning will matter too, so if it’s a factory JBL enclosure, it should complement the sub nicely.
Overall, yes — you should get very respectable sound quality, especially if it’s installed and tuned properly. Just make sure your speaker positioning and crossover settings are dialed in, and you’ll likely be pretty happy with the result. Let us know how it sounds once it's in!
