Many of us use obilTarate in the decontamination process followed by Iron Out. This usually addresses spot tar deposits that at times are hardly visible. How well would the product fair on full on tar contamination? This past week I got a call from a frantic client. The vehicle in question is an e92 m3 convertible that I detailed a few months back.

As of late there is a lot of road construction in and around Durban. He managed to go through an area of freshly laid tar and managed to get it splattered all over the passenger side door, wheel arches, fender etc. His natural reaction was to try and wash it off only to realise that it was there to stay. He called and explained the situation to me. I was excited and curious. Would the product be effective enough?.
After a quick wash I pulled the car into the garage for inspection. I snapped these pic’s throughout the process, please mind the quality-they were captured on my phone.

To say I was impressed was an understatement. The ease of use is definitely something to rave about; I sprayed the product on and watched it start to break-down/dissolve the tar. The wipe off was effortless even on the heavily soiled areas. Given the severity of the deposits I ran through the process twice just to make sure I didn’t miss any areas.

I then proceeded to wash the car again and applied a layer of Auto Finesse Tripple, another product that is excellent in terms of what it is capable of. The icing on the cake will be the Desire Wax that will be applied sometime this week.

Nice Vasi..... oblitarate is one of my favorite tar removers.

Just wish IATA regulations allowed it to be shipped in a bigger container than the 500ml bottles..... I would prefer to be 5l at a time....

 if you sell it to me at a reduced rate comparable to buying iron out in 5l vs 500ml, no problemo

But seriously, the regulations around the shipment of flammable (and potentially explosive) hazardous chemicals like this will simply not allow you to bring it in in larger pack sizes.... especially the IATA regulations governing the shipment of HCS by air....where as you know, everyone is extremely risk averse since 9/11
