Post by Little D »

Hey Guys

Before someone bites my head off , Let me explain.

Yes , MP9 is the ECU used in modern golfs however I was chatting to a friend and he advised me that in Durbs , There is conversion called MP9 CONVERSION and not sure if its done in JHB

This is the first I hear of it so if anyone of you know and care to explain extensively

mp9 is fuel injection, the conversion is done when you have a carb and want to convert to FI

I am sure this "MP9 conversion" he speaks of is his own term he has given to his specific conversion he does.

I am not sure why he would call it that but hey lets await feedback

Could be that he was referring to a digifant system being changed to MP9 and thus calling it a MP9 conversion.
Doesn't sound like he know's exactly what an MP9 conversion is.

WELL!!!

Well my questions arent getting answered so Im sure he prob got his terminology worng Saying MP9 Conv.

I gather its probably the normal mods one would do

Rebore
Bigger pistons
Exhaust
Branch
Remap Mp9 ECU , Eg by CPI.
Longer gearbox ratios
Lightened flywheel etc.
Flowed head
Bigger camshafts

Besides the remap the rest has nothing to do with MP9 exclusively...

Better to ask here and get correct info, than to hear about this "Conversion" and its something thats maybe not true or BS story. Then you can tell your buddy he's talking crap and if he wants to know why you say so, you will have all the answers from here

At the end of the day you or your buddy will learn something new.

My best guess is that he was trying to be cool or trying to show off so made up this "Conversion" which he tells everyone about.

You know those guys you meet at a braai that tell you there 1.6i Citi has "Demon Cams" and his car is now so fast that he beats M3's like mad

Like for example, a friend of mine told me yesterday that someone told him it sounds like his injectors are going and that he should have it checked out or replaced but.......he has a Golf with a carb motor in. Some guys make as if they know what they speaking about. that's why the best thing to do is what you done, ask.

Re: MP9 conversion????

I had gone and put a mp9 injection from a 1.6 velociti on a 1.8 rabbit head. but had to hone holes for the injectors, also blocked off the kj-jet tronic injector holes it seems to work fine. just need dyno tuning.

diagnostics only gave that I have a faulty cam... but its probebly because its cut. I got it like that
