VW Polo Vivo diagnostics

So I'm looking to invest in a diagnostic tool to check up on the health of my car. Not looking to do any programming or modify anything. Most recommend vag com cable or obdeleven which are very limited on the number and model of vehicles I can use them on. Any suggestions on one that will work on this vehicle but won't need to be replaced when changing vehicles in future?
