A wile back the Tribology department did some testing (wear/friction) on most of the motor oils.
IIRC, Total Quartz did well and so did helix ultra. I'll pop by tomorrow and look for data.

Yeah I like Helix Ultra just wondering what other options I have at that level

I generally use the Helix Ultra
All of them are good from the big brands.

I am a big fan of Shell Ultra as tests have proven oxidation stability. They started the trend of cleaner engines which everyone has followed.

Edge is always a winner too. For fun i would generally alternate between the two or buy which ever one is on special

Total is very underrated. Total always comes out tops for metal wear. Great oils. A bit hard to find the good ones in SA though

Heard some guys talkign aabout Ceratec

but i'm always a sceptic when it comes to oil additives

My BIL uses engine flush when he does lube changes in his cars, is this advisable?

I think its not advisable on a good clean engine. Maybe an old sludged up engine..
This stuff breaks down oil doesn't it? and if its not 100% removed it will breakdown some of the new oil. Just how I feel..

Shell oil is what VW currently has in there 5lt VW branded containers. Golf 7 GTI oil capacity is 5.7lts from fully drained
