Brake capiler rattling

Post by rydogg »

Due to my lowered stance, there have been some recent damages, inculding many rattles throughout my vehicle. One of which is most noticalbe. My brake calipers are rattling when I drive over bumpy roads. I know it's the brakes, coz when I brake the rattle stops.

Is there any specific reason why the pads would move away from the discs so much when the brakes are no longer applied?

Hi rydogg, not sure what car you drive but check the anti rattle plates on the calipers. These prevent the rattle on the brakes.

had the same issue Newton jus mentioned on my .com - check those clips. its most likely the cause... you should be able to move the pad slightly by hand if the clips are out of place.

Check antirattle clips and check if the piston is pushing nicely onto the pad

U really need to change Ur mechanic. If it's meant to have those plates, it must have them.
That's still quite a new vehicle for the sliding pins to be worn out. It is meant to have a slight movement.

U basically just remove the brake pads, fit the plates onto the caliper bracket and refit the pads. Simple, most of them can only fit in one way.

Not sure what type pads this car has. Some pads have 3 prongs on the inner and outter pads, if it's that type, it may not use those anti rattle plates because those prongs clip on tight onto the caliper.
