I ran fine all day, then I wanted to move the car quick and it just swings. It does start again, so very intermittent.
Where is this crank sensor located and how much of a job is it?

It's on the block behind the oil cooler.
Most times the oil cooler has to be opened up to get the crank sensor out - replace the oil cooler oring if loosening it.

This thing...
So recently it started misfiring a little and then suddenly Friday the misfire became more... permanent. I parked it Friday afternoon and started it once or twice over the weekend to see what what. Everytime it was still there. So this afternoon I had to use the car to fetch the delinquents from school. Missfire still very prevalent, parked at school and collected some hungry beings. Started the thing and still missfire, a block further it runs just fine,WTAF!!!
Scanned it yesterday and block 13 showed some oddities on cyl 1 and 4 which apparently is normal cause they run together for balance or something.
Did the same now and all looks, in line.
Ok so my thinking tells me harness, between ECU and plugs for Injector Loom, Crank and Cam angle sensors. Cos it died on me a few more times which threw a engine speed sensor fault and now the missfire.
Any idea where these things like to rub through?

Have u replaced the crank sensor from the last time?
How much "off" were the injector readings?
If it's in the high 2.00's then u have a problem.
These cars don't seem to have much common wiring problems besides the alternator wire at the starter area.
I had an issue on my personal car where the insulation on the crank sensor wiring got brittle and fell off causing a short at times and engine to misfire, didn't have much time to diagnose since my dad has been in hospital. Ended up getting to it too late, entire engine was destroyed. I don't even bother updating my rides thread anymore
Other than the crank sensor, random misfires are most likely caused by injectors and the wiring to them (the injector harness pins stretch somehow).
Iv been around these engines alot and still haven't found injector harnesses that need replacing. If there is an injector related misfire, u will get a fault code for the injector.
U can also let the engine warm up to operating temp, look at block 13, 18 and 23. Post a pic of the readings.

Still haven't replaced the crank speed sensor. Could that be the cause of all this ****? There are no specific errors to injectors.
When logging the injector values were not high two's more around 2 dropping lower. I will start it later and see what it does and them grab a screen shot.
Block 18 I think showed a 6 for cyl 4 while misfiring was present.

Ok so the injector is not way out of whack for a code to be triggered.. I guess the erratic idle is not terribly bad, yet..
Group 18 is the injector solenoid status. 0 being normal - I can't find labels for the value of 6.0. It could be the sum of 2.0 and 4.0 I'm not sure.. generally any value other than 0 here is no good.
Group 23 is the injector switching time deviation. 127 is way high than it is supposed to be. This means there is an issue with cyl4 injector.
And yes, a "slightly" malfunctioning crank sensor is gonna make the engine fuel incorrectly - I seen it first hand on my car. Most of the time the sensor fails completely resulting in the engine not being able to start.
However, the crank sensor code u have is pretty much a straight forward fault. The crank sensor is not outputting a signal. Since the car cuts off randomly it's gonna be very difficult to even attempt testing the sensor output and u will need an oscilloscope anyways. The easiest thing u can do is check the insulation on the crank sensor wire. The correct way about it would be to confirm if wiring from the crank sensor all the way to the ECU is not damaged. If not, I would fit in a new crank sensor at that point.
I suggest getting the crank sensor checked/replaced first then look into the injector. Since this crank sensor is randomly acting up there's probably a chance it's causing kak with the injectors by intermittently dropping it's signal.
Values other than 0 on Group 18 and High switching time values is generally a faulty injector. But, there are other easier checks that can be done first, cam wear, rocker adjustment, injector harness pins, u can even test resistance on this injector and compare it against the other 3.
And no, it's quite unlikely that the sensor would come off without opening out the oil cooler. Just open up the big 36mm plastic nut, move the cooler out the way and pull out the sensor, replace oil cooler oring when refitting. Be prepared for some oil to leak out.

So yesterday I was ready to use petrol on it instead of Diesel.
It just wouldn't start and I was stuck close to my daughters school. Then suddenly it started, spluttered and bam WTAF is 100% fine again.
This morning still fine and I logged again. Looks a lot better I guess but Cyl4 not reading like the others. Now to find time to get my hands dirty!

When it refuses to start I never have my laptop with me.
The speed sensor error did go from "No Signal" to intermittend.

Intermittent problems are always the worst.
Revert back after checking/replacing the crank sensor. It should fix your problem.
