Post by Mike2 »

Hey good day my VW guys hope everything is good your side.

I would like to know whats the issue with my car I'm driving a VW polo tsi 1.2 2015. Why is my temperature gauge rising but my car is not overheating?

When ever I go on a steep uphill such as salowrys pass to Grabouw or houw Hoek pass than temperature gauge rise over 90 degrees till in the red but car is not overheating. when going downhill my car goes back to normal temperature

New waterpump was fitted last year September
Reason for new waterpump old pump was leaking coolant car never overheated before only overheated when I forgot to put coolant bottle cap back.

Please guys would like to know what's wrong your help will be much appreciated please please guys.

I have tried everything in the book on mine and also the same issue I hope it isn’t anything major that needs to be done.
If I find anything out I will let you know. I know this isn’t helpful but at least we not alone.
Does your coolant warning also go off?

Hi mikie when the heat gauge only goes all the way down to 130 degrees than the coolant warning light will beep when I'm on a straight light will go away and everything back to normal again

I'm puzzled

Hi Mike

Exact same issue as mine at the moment even car care clinic said they baffled.
I avoid driving the car as I don’t wanna cause more damage. I checked my oil to ensure it isn’t milky and there’s no white smoke from the exhaust so the head gasket might still be fine.

Does your coolant stay in the reservoir? I need to refill mine after I let it stand over night .

This is honestly mind boggling.

I have also created a post recently so if I hear anything I’ll give you a heads up.

Ohh no, and still the same issue? Have you possibly checked for leaks anywhere and made sure the oil is still fine in Dee the oil cap?

Possibly I mean it is VW after all haha.

No problem at all, sir. We in the same boat.

Thanks so much.

Hi ex-dohctor temp sensor has been replaced I bought it at goldwagen so now I' think maybe my car wants an original sensor or what because the sensor is new.

The gold wagen sensor kicks in at a higher temp vs the original. I replaced all the coolant temp sensors last year on my audi

Hey Mike2 after you replaced your water pump did the leaking stop?
And was it leaking internally or was there coolant on the ground just wanted to find out as mine is doing the same and wanted to rule that option out as well.

Mikie98 yes leak did stop

You couldn't see the because it only leaks when the car is driving so while the pump is working when I stop I can't see the leak but what I notice the bolt that bolts from the gearbox into the engine block was very rusted so that have me an indication there's water leaking there and the only explanation was the waterpump

I dd a pressure not even the pressure could indicate where the leak was so after I replaced the pump water leak was fixed

Ahhh I see thank you so much because my pressure test also couldn’t identify it. I was starting to worry but I will be replacing the water pump this month and then the sensor as well.

I will look at getting the oem sensor also then based on the above states with the sensor from Goldwagen.

We are getting somewhere, hooraaaayy.

If you having a temp reading problem then yes. That was done with mine. Had the goldwagen one, workshop was not happy with the temp reading and then replaced it with one from the agents.
