Re: Upcoming KZN Events

My 2c, nothing personal but lets iron out the sh*t...
Firstly, I agree with you that all the agro needs to stop, but at the same time, this is the interwebz and people also need to take things that are said on the forum in that context. There are some people who, when you assume to know them based on their online persona, turn out to be completely different in real life, and so I believe it is important for people to interact in person, outside of the forum before forming opinions of others
You are correct but it also works the other way around. As I explained to balls any message over the interweb has no sign of emotion attached to it so respect each other always think that your message could be interpreted incorrectly therefore dont get personal, to be honest seems like you are defending Balls.
Secondly, it would seem from what I have read here, that there are only 1 or 2 people with 'complaints', yet it is these same people who have not come to any of the meetings we have had, and as such, I do not see the benefit of yet another meeting where the same crowd attend (generally those of us that attend these meetings never have any legit complaints).
Theres this constant referral to 1 or 2 people. Who are they, why not just say it. Did you ever stop to think that maybe these people are uttering what others feel but rather not say or have just given up. Every voice should be heard. The meetings are not concenient for everyone, thats why theres's the forum to realy the message across and get everyones opinion, maybe I am wrong. Lets not forget that when suggestions where made for meets other than the ones convenient for the "usual" crowd this is where we ended up.
I also think that a lot of the rage that has been doing the rounds is due to the continued punting by Rhythm that it is as a direct result of his involvement that things took off in KZN - As per your own admission the KZN section of the VW club was active a long time before even I rocked up, let alone Rhythm - and this gets people's backs up, and things then get said that only add fuel to the fir
I wont comment for Rhythm as no he and I are not in "cohoots" I have met the guy once. Yes there were plenty people involved in it at some stage, have we ever stopped to wonder why they no more around. Yes we getting new membership but at the same time loosing others so we definately doing something wrong. Comparing clubs is wrong i agree.
Also, in respect of the comm we voted in at Firkin that night, you must remember that at that stage, even we were contemplating 'doing our own thing' due to the then lack of support from the JHB Comm. However, since then there has been full commitment from the JHB comm and as such we are all still here working together. Even though the 10 (or whatever the exact number was) of us are not all formally part of the official VW Club comm, it is in essence the same group of people arranging events for the KZN guys - it is this 'core' group of guys/gals that tend to attend all the events regularly and it is here that we chat about what to do next, but it is only Rob and I that have direct forum access to the JHB comm
if even the guys that we at the meeting at that were on the so called comittee have a problem with how this was handled then definately theres something wrong. Maybe its was because the message was never relayed properly. I dont know.

Lawrence no ones saying you or Rob are not doing a good job, or at least I am not saying it. But it seems that things are there to cater for just your usual crowd. But shouldnt the emphasis be on growing the crowd rather than keeping just what you have. Discussing stuff at a track day which not everyone is a fan of doesnot help.

Off the 200 or so Dubs that came to the Photoshoot howmany of them signed up as members or even attended events after that.

Hope this is not taken the wrong way. Just a few concerns thats all. And please i have attended events before so dont give me that BS story.

nice comments for a change ....whooop ...we on the right path .....!!!!

We can look at having a poll for the next event VWCSA after the Dubrun (BUT PLEASE CAN WE JUST FOCUS ON THIS MAJOR EVENT FIRST) and we will go with it ....so what ever gets the most votes we will dooit ....how’s that for a democracy….we will obviously email the non forum club members as well for their vote . We will add it all up and that’s what we will do regardless of what it is the numbers will decide what we do.

hey guys

i'm sorry to ruffle any feathers. I just voiced my opinion or the way i and a few others feel.

As lawrence said, many ppl want to act faulty on the forum but then are opposite in reality. Well this is not on with me. Maybe it's ok because of the ppl involved here accept it but not with many others.

I was not comparing my club or competing against vwcsa kzn section, we just give people another option were things are different to here. We have bigger goals than breakfast runs and m&g but ya we still do it to because that's what it's about.

Anyways good luck, i will not get involved in future.

Cheers

oh and one more thing, you guys have alot to say about your harrismith trip and spoke crap about my club.

Well, we went on a trip to newcastle this past weekend for the drags with 20members, no wives or girlfriends only members. So don't throw that **** around about us not knowing what it is to organise an event. Don't make it like it's so hard to arrange every thing.

How about we combine the 2, Rob gave a very fair suggestion. What about a hookup with the 2 clubs then. Neutral venue both committees work together to get something organised. A Durban meet not a VW Club or Your club meet.

What you think?

^^^ A Cti4life you kinda beat me to it....

What I wanted to know from Rhythm is, if you are clearly able to arrange an event and pull some numbers, why are you so dead against doing this as 1 club, a bunch of guys who all smaak VW's.... why the need for 2 separate clubs? What is it about the VW Club specifically that makes you not want to be a part of it?

honestly bru, i really wanted to be a member of this club when i rejoined the forum. To me it looked like there was nothing in dbn or if there was it was undercover. If someone joins today they can see under your name says kzn xxxxxx, there was no committee, no chairman, there was nothing of the sort before. Well not that i could see.

I have no beef with you or this club. Yes, we started new club but that was because i had the backing of people that want it as well as revolutions motorcycle club. Anyways we looked at the bigger picture and past brand loyalty so we made it an open club. Yes, we have many vw's but we also have other brands. You see, we got no keyboard gangsters or ppl with split personalities. We have our aims/goals and i'm sure we'll get there one day. Being a branch of the vwcsa tree wasn't going to get us to our goals. We have the support of members in the ST club, OPC club and the kzn twincrew so hopefully when the time comes we'll have the support of the kzn vw club as well.

You guys do your thing and we'll do our thing maybe we'll meet up somewhere in the middle. No disrespect intended.

Cheers

Well I can see where you are going with the whole non-VW exclusive thing, and I suppose that makes sense. That being said, there are a lot guys in the club with non-VAG cars, and we would never turn someone away just cos they don't drive a dub.

It would be good if we could have you guys join us on the Dubrun weekend, and likewise I am sure they guys here would like to attend any events you guys arrange, should we be welcome.

It saddens me to see the potential divide amongst car enthusiasts and I only hope that somewhere down the road we really can meet in the middle and just enjoy what we all doing, dubbing!!!!

let me make it easier, our competition is kzn motor racing. We are already making some arrangements for a piece of land about 15min out of dbn. My lips are sealed now but there you know our goal.

okay so you are looking at a racing club. Then the bigger is that you should be looking for support from all MSA affiliated clubs. Just my 2c
